The Winnebago County Board has identified the need for River Bluff Nursing Home to have more oversight of its business operations and create strategic goals in becoming economically viable and achieve long term success. The Operations and Administrative Committee brought forward a resolution to establish a Board of Directors in order to accomplish this need for River Bluff Nursing Home.
The River Bluff Nursing Home Board of Directors shall be comprised of nine (9) members, including one (1) County Board member, and shall be appointed by the Winnebago County Board Chairman with the advice and consent of the Winnebago County Board. All positions shall receive no compensation. Members of the River Bluff Nursing Home Board of Directors shall be representative of the community and possess specific expertise in the areas of health care, finance/banking, accounting, social services, human resources and marketing.
"We believe that establishing this board is long overdue, and is necessary to improve the organizational structure for the governance of River Bluff," said Board Member John Butitta, co-sponsor of the resolution. "Now we need people who've got time and talent to devote to this board to apply."
Once the River Bluff Nursing Home Board of Directors has been appointed by the County Board Chairman and approved by the County Board, the Board of Directors shall meet and organize its leadership positions and committees and then develop by-laws for its organization and submit the by-laws to the County Board for approval.
"It's important to build a board with the skills and energy to achieve River Bluff's operational and financial goals," said Chairman Joseph Chiarelli. "In an effort to take a bipartisan approach we want to open up the application process to all interested citizens in Winnebago County."
Applicants should submit a letter of interest, resume and letters of recommendation to the Winnebago County Board Chairman's Office, 404 Elm St, Rm 533, Rockford, Illinois 61101 or email to
