Winnebago County Surface Water Management Ordinance Update

January 10, 2024

Winnebago County, in conjunction with Illinois Emergency Management Agency, received Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to update the County's floodplain and stormwater regulations within the Winnebago County Surface Water Management Ordinance (WC-SWMO). Under the National Environmental Policy Act, EO11988 and EO 11990, public notice is required of any federal actions that may affect floodplains or wetlands.

The Public Comment Period will be from Wednesday, January 10, 2024 through Friday, February 9, 2024. A Public Meeting will be held during the Winnebago County's Public Works Committee meeting at 5:00 P.M. on February 13, 2024, in Room 303 of the County Administration Building located at 404 Elm Street, Rockford, IL 61101.

Public participation is encouraged. Winnebago County worked with the Region 1 Planning Council (RPC) to update the WC-SWMO.
