Highway Department to receive ITEP grant for Perryville Path improvements

WINNEBAGO COUNTY, Ill. – The Winnebago County Highway Department announces that it has been awarded a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) for Cycle 15 of the 2022 Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program (ITEP). $553,500 was awarded to the Winnebago County Highway Department to make an extension to its Perryville Bike & Recreation Path. This will allow for a 0.75 mile extension of an existing 9-mile, 10-foot-wide asphalt shared-use path along Perryville Road. This new extension will be from Willowbrook Lane to McDonald Road and connect to the Village of Roscoe's Porter Park.

Construction of this latest section is expected to take place in 2025. Thanks to two earlier ITEP grants, the Perryville Path was extended from Hart Road to IL 173 in 2022; and in the summer/fall of 2023 it will be constructed from Anjali Way to Willowbrook Lane.

In total, IDOT received 215 project applications requesting over $339 million. A complete list of grant recipients is available online. Governor J.B. Pritzker announced that $127.9 million in Rebuild Illinois funds have been awarded through ITEP to expand travel options and enhance quality of life in communities throughout the state.
