County Board approves annual budget for 2025 Fiscal Year

WINNEBAGO COUNTY, Ill. –Thursday evening, Board Members voted to approve the $73.5 million general fund budget to pass the fiscal year budget for 2025.

"It's imperative that we provide the funding needed to maintain and improve our essential services for Winnebago County residents," said Chairman Joe Chiarelli. "This budget reflects the responsible use of precious tax dollars to accomplish this goal. I commend the County Departments and Board members who worked diligently during this budget approval process."


Highlights of the budget include:

  • Increased funding to Highway Department, River Bluff Health & Rehabilitation, Veterans Assistance Commission and Social Security
  • Improved revenue from multiple sources such as Sales Taxes and State Income Tax
  • Cost of living salary increases
  • Hard Rock Casino revenue split 50% each to the County Highway Fund and the CIP Fund
  • First year of long-term Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) planning, funded from excess fund balances
