Winnebago County Community Mental Health Board to host Strategic Plan Open House Events

ROCKFORD, IL The Winnebago County Community Mental Health Board (WCCMHB) is hosting three open house events designed to gather public comment on the development of its next three-year Strategic Plan. Dates for the open houses are:

• Thursday, August 10

• Wednesday, August 16

• Wednesday, August 23

All open houses will be held from 5:30 – 6:45 PM at the Region 1 Planning Council office at 127 N Wyman St., Suite 100, Rockford, IL 61101.

If unable to attend an open house event, the draft of the strategic plan is available on the website at r1planning.org/wccmhb. The WCCMHB Strategic Plan 2.0 will serve as a comprehensive framework for directing funding and evaluating the success of WCCMHB for the upcoming program years of 2025-2027. It will outline specific goals, objectives, strategies, and measures of success that guide decision-making and ensure accountability. Through this plan, the WCCMHB can effectively allocate resources and track progress toward the mission and vision. The open house events are an opportunity for the public, community members, organizations, and stakeholders to express opinions and ask questions about the direction of the mental health system of care in Winnebago County.

ABOUT WCCMHB – The purpose of the Winnebago County Community Mental Health Board (WCCMHB) is to plan, implement, and monitor a system of mental health and substance use services for Winnebago County residents suffering from serious mental illness and substance use. WCCMHB distributes sales tax proceeds to provide services to individuals whose illnesses prevent their functioning in age-appropriate social roles. The use of clinical, evidence-based practices allows individuals with serious mental illness and substance use disorders to remain in the community while accessing their care needs.

ABOUT RPC – Region 1 Planning Council is a special-purpose, regional government agency providing cross-jurisdictional, government-to-government collaborative planning for Northern Illinois. The regional planning model provides an efficient means to promoting a well-informed, comprehensive dialogue that holistically addresses regional issues by fulfilling the needs of government entities for long-range planning, securing funding, and analyzing and providing data in support of regional projects and initiatives.
