Winnebago County to hold clean-up day for 'Project 4114'

WINNEBAGO COUNTY, Ill. – This weekend join us as we "Clean Out the House" for Project 4114, a collaboration between Winnebago County and nonprofit Marshmallow's HOPE. Volunteers are needed to help us clean out the home being donated by the Winnebago County Trustee Program. Please bring gloves, appropriate shoes and any battery-operated hand tools to tear down walls and prepare the home for rehabilitation!

DATE: Saturday, March 4, 2023

TIME: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

WHERE: 125 Lakin Terrace, Rockford, Illinois 61101

Project 4114 will create an opportunity for community engagement with youth involved in Marshmallow's HOPE programming. This has proven to build important protective factors to aid in the development of the participants' mental health while mitigating suicide risk factors. The Winnebago County Trustee Program will be donating one of its Trustee Program properties for the benefit of Marshmallow's HOPE, whose program participants will be involved in rehabbing the home and ultimately, turning over the keys to a local veteran in need.

Thank you to Les' Cleaning Services for donating safety goggles, masks and latex gloves for our clean-up day. To accomplish this inaugural project, Marshmallow's HOPE is in need of additional community support. Accepted contributions include in-kind donations of building materials, professional insight from licensed building contractors, volunteer labor and financial support covering all project-related fees. All donations are tax deductible.
